Dark Knight Review - Elegantly Constructed Badness

By Jeff Whatcott - Posted on 19 July 2008

I went to Dark Knight yesterday. It's very solid film-making, but it did not make me happy. There was too much violence, moral relativism, and anti-hero glorification for my taste. But I respect the talent of the people who created it. Delivering 2 hours and 32 minutes of film with this level of texture and depth is an achievement.

Posthumous films

Those of you thinking of sneaking in your kids under 13 should think again. This film will deeply disturb your kids. Don't take them. I left my two youngest boys (11 and 9) at home, despite their begging, and I'm very glad I did.

1000% agreed. An exceptional movie, but I'm not sure I'll see it again. I can't take that much bombardment of my senses...and sensitivity. It paints a picture of humanity that I don't believe.

at times the Joker seemed almost too smart, borderline clairvoyant, but i guess that what makes him a good foe for the Batman...

Interesting, what were your views on 'Batman Begins'. I have yet to watch 'Dark Knight' but I found the previous installment with Bale in the lead to be my favourite of all the Batman movies up until that point.

I look forward to checking out how 'Dark Knight' compares, the trailers are promising at any rate.
